Feria de las Flores: Medellín e a eterna primavera

A Feria de las Flores é um dos eventos mais importantes de Medellín. É muito mais do que ser um dos principais vendedores de flores do mundo. Nas suas “silletas” cheias de flores, que podem chegar até mais de 100kg e 3 metros, os “silleteros”  levam o orgulho da tradição de descer de Santa Elena até Medellín para desfilar a beleza das cores dessa linda obra da natureza que são as flores.

A cidade se enche de festa e alegria. Então durante toda a semana da feria, pela ruas transitam as chivas (uma espécie de ônibus, bem colorido, cheio de música, que sai por aí como uma festa ambulante), é possível ver exposições em parques e shoppings de esculturas feitas com pétalas. Existem concertos abertos e pagos e de muitos gostos.

Mesmo com toda essa festa, o momento auge é de fato o desfile dos silleteros. É emocionante ver aquelas pessoas, de todas as idades (desde criancinhas até velhinhos) levando no ombro seus lindos e pesados arranjos de flores até o final do desfile. Parece até que estamos em um estádio com a torcida da plateia. Cantam, gritam, estimulam para que aguentem até o final.

A Feria de las Flores é um “must to see” de Medellín. Essa foi a vantagem de ter morado nessa cidade um ano. Não perca, a feira acontece todos os anos, no mês de Agosto, sempre na cidade que não a toa, também é conhecida como “da eterna primavera”.

Feria de las Flores: Medellín and the eternal spring

The Flower Parede (Feria de las Flores) is one of the most important events of Medellín. It’s much more than being one of the most important flowers growers in the world. With their “silletas” full of flowers, that reach more than 100k and 3 meters, the “silleteros” care the proud of this tradition of coming down from Santa Elena until Medellín to parade the beauty and colors of the amazing nature work of art.

The city is full of party and joy. So, during the whole week of the feria, on the streets you gonna cross with “chivas” – kind of a bus/truck, full of color, music that goes around like a walking party. You can check exhibitions in the parks and malls with sculptures made of flowers petals.  There are free and paid concerts.

And even with all of this, the most waited moment is the “silleteros” parade. It’s exciting see all those people, from all ages, young and old, taking on their shoulders their beautiful and heavy flower arrangement until the end of the way. It seems we are in a stadium with the supporters singing, yelling, and stimulating them to bear until the end.

The Feria is a must to see in Medellín. That is the advantage of living there for one year. Don’t miss it! It happens one a year, on August and in the city well known as the “Eternal spring city”.
